Thursday 3rd October
Cafe Mamba, Taunton Arrive In Taunton for the gig tonight fairly early. Quite uninterestingly, this is Ben's hometown. Met a few crazed VD fans which was cool. Shame this was an over 18's night. Managed to get a couple of under age VD fans in. Drank beer and the trademark VD lady drinks in our sectioned off part in the bar Ð our dressing room. Must commment on great rider. While backstage we played with our inflatable women and probably scared support band Goatboy.

The gig ended up being played at 11.40pm, with me wearing my porn star hat and wig. Was a good steady warm up gig in preparation for the big gig that is the KERRANG WEEKENDER!

Kerrang! Weekender

Friday the 4th October.
We rolled up at camber sands at about 1.30pm (half an hour EARLY) thanks to our amazing tour manager Timm! (He has herpes).

We received our AAA and VIP wristbands and were shown to our room by a very helpful person called Tom. Looked around to see which other bands were near us, saw [spunge] opposite, InMe two chalets down, Vex Red opposite them, Vacant Stare next door on the left and Audiovent on the right. Some American band with long hair were also opposite, probably the D4. After receiving our rider (lots of alcohol) off a very lovely lady who our roadie Scott tried to chat up we wandered about the place. It wasn't looking very crazy at this time, we were all bored. I began to wonder why there was an explanation mark on the end of kerrang! when they werent going to use it. People were still being let in so we went back to the chalet and watched Kerrang TV and some crap on Sky 1. On the way back I saw Paul and Emma from Kerrang, also saw Lucy who was with us when we did our 'porn movie' photo shoot.

Watched TV until 5.30pm, after which we set up our gear on the big K! Stage and got ready to play, didn't have a sound check. Ended up playing a pretty cool set, but we were on early so we didn't have a mad audience (no one was drunk enough yet). Decided to check out InMe who we met earlier (Dave helped us lock our chalet) and was very impressed by his singing. Went to get chicken and missed a bit of their set.

The merriness started when I wandered around, found some people and drunk some aftershock, bet a girl a tenner she wouldn't drink a glass of it straight up. She did, but she puked everywhere. Well worth the tenner! Went back to the chalet and did a radio interview drunk, and started drinking more and more alcohol. Ben puked up after 6 shots of vodka, (but he got £50 for it) Ken was drunk, and as far as I remember Rodney was asleep at 2am. However, not I. I went out again and met some more people, this time it was Steve from Kabukiman! Lovely chappie. Also met Steff and her boyfriend Steve and this guy called Nick, we smoked some weed and then went to Vacant Stares chalet to smoke more. As of this point I remember nothing of the rest of the evening. Rodney tells me I stared kicking his door at 4am with Mushroomhead in the room, Ken tells me I was making a lot of noise with a girl in my bunk and all I remember is HAVING to go to bed or I would've fainted, and also looking at my watch right before I went to sleep. It was 5.30am.

Saturday 5th October
Woke up with a killer hangover. Couldn't move for about 2 hours. Vex Red's tour manager came over and bollocked our tour manager for letting me trash their room. Apparently one of VD (the band all said it was me) and all of InMe trashed their room. We really didn't. Well I didn't, I think InMe might have however, haha! After that little drama i then went over to Timms room and got a bollocking because I said I smoked crack (I didn't) and then went back to chalet to sleep more. At about 1.00pm I got up and met a few girls and people I apparently met the night before. Bought a programme. Didn't do anything interesting until I caught all of Reubens set and said hey to them at the end. Nice guys, good set too. Great drummer! Saw Sikth a bit later, watched them at the back by the PA with Joe from InMe getting all excited about Such the Fool and Hold My Finger. The sound was poor but they were good. Dave from Ill Nino came and punched me during their set, turns out he had the CD's with our new stuff on it (he's been producing our new material the last few weeks) so as soon as Sikth finished I went off to our van to listen to it. Ken and I were suitably impressed, this stuff sounds great!

After this I went to check out Taproot who were quality, and then waited for Ill Nino to play. Saw Christian and he said he loves our new stuff, and then went to the side of the stage to watch Ill Nino play. They showed all the other bands up, American bands really do their stuff so much better than British ones. Was very impressed. They also thanked Violent Delight at the end to an amazing silence from the 1000 people in there. Dave admirably tried to create noise by hitting his drums. Amazing set. Met the people who are going to be mixing our album, they're currently in the UK doing Cradle of Filth and did Ill Nino and 36 Crazyfists too. Again, nice guys. Decided I was going to bed after hanging out with Ill Nino and meeting some of the Lostprophets (REALLY cool guys too).

Didn't go to bed, instead met up with some people I met the night before and ended up trashing their room, filling the bath up and playing 'chair in the bath' and ripping out curtains. And smoke alarms. Met two very nice girls, one of them asked for my number so my night was complete. Didn't drink ONE drop of alcohol. Ken did (one drop that is) and was drunk. Rodney went to bed early again, and Ben disappeared all night, fucking his girlfriend. Alright for some I guess! Went to bed again, at 5.30am.

Sunday 6th October
Woke up at 9.00am because our tour manager thought it would be funny. Emma from Warners appeared bright and early asking if we could give Glassjaw's guitarist and guitar tech a ride back to London with us and her. Ended up talking about gypsies for almost the whole ride back (really). Left at 10.30 and got home at 2.30ish and was exhausted.

Thus ends my diary entry number one, it's a bit long.
