18th to 20th October18th October, Day Off, Travelling to Shetland Load of boring
rubbish happened today. Ate Macdonalds, bought the 30 Seconds to Mars
album. 19th October, Vidlin Hall, Vidlin Ð SHETLAND! After what can only be described as a shitty, horrible, ferry crossing we arrive to what appears to be a desolate, cold, wet post nuclear wasteland. The skies are grey, the hills are bleak and it seems a bit depressinng to be honest. We are greeted by the promoter Jeff who takes us to his house and get humped by his horny dog. We get shown a bed and breakfast across the road. Ken and I fall asleep, stilll fucking shattered from the ferry crossing. We get dinner courtesy of Jeffs mother and travel miles through the Shetland crountry side. Its in the Middle Of Nowhere but appears pretty nice. By the way, im writing this really late and on the back of 5 hours sleep in two days so its probably going to be a bit wank. AnywayÉ We soundchecked
and waited around. Get the info that we have sold 240 tickets in a 250
capacity place. Grin like a fool until I realise there is no kettle therefore
no pot noodle, therefore no nutritious and tasty food. To say we were
intimitated by the Shetland guys is an understatemnent. We are, to be
honest, all Southern fairies, and this lot scared the shit out of us.
All drunk, yet all some of the friendliest people I have ever met. They
bought me drinks, and I chatted to many people for a while, it was ace.
By the time we played it was 12am and everyone was wasted, including me
by the end of our set. Broke another string, had no space to move around
but it was a brilliant gig. 250 people going mental, it was great. The
third or fourth best VD gig ever. Rivalling Newcastle for brilliance now!
Afterwards I was invited to many parties but ended up chilling at the
room with Gemma Ð also wanna say to Haggis, Shaun (you rich bastard!),
and anyone else I and the rest of the band met Ð you rule! 20th October, Somewhar else, Lerwick Got 2/3 hours sleep again, was absolutely exhausted and not ready for a 4pm gig. DidnÕt play well personally. Great venue and again full of friendly people. Had to leave early to catch the god forsaken hell that is the ÔferryÕ. I am listening to Avenged Sevenfold, needing to sleep so muchÉ bleurgh. This boat is shaking far too much. Horrible. Despite this horrible crossing we will back to the Shetland Isles! Great gigs, quality peopleÉcant wait to return!
